LAU & CHOI, P.C.
WEBSITE PRIVACY NOTICE
Last updated: October 16, 2026
Lau & Choi, P.C. is a law firm practicing in Colorado. This Privacy Policy explains how information associated with our website and inquiries made using its email and telephone links is collected, used, and disclosed. “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to Lau & Choi, P.C.
This policy applies to website visitors and website-related inquiries. It does not replace an engagement agreement or describe every aspect of handling client files or providing legal services. Information received in connection with representation is also subject to applicable professional duties and legal requirements.
Information You Provide to Us
When you email or telephone us, you may provide your name, email address, telephone number, and details about your inquiry. We use this information to respond and communicate with you about your request. The website's email and telephone links open your own communications service; they do not submit information through a website form.
Our website provides information about the firm, its people, services, and location. It does not offer contact forms, online appointment booking, visitor accounts, or newsletter signups. Contacting us does not enroll you in a newsletter or subscription.
Information Collected When You Visit
Squarespace hosts our website. Website delivery, hosting, security, and related platform services may process technical information, including your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, referring website, and the date and time of a visit. Technical information may be personal data when it identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you.
We have disabled Squarespace's visitor activity log and restricted its non-essential cookies. These settings limit optional visitor tracking; they do not eliminate technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. Squarespace may still produce traffic statistics or process information as part of its hosting services. For more information, see Squarespace's Privacy Policy.
Cookies and Your Choices
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Essential cookies and similar technologies may be used to support website functionality and security. Squarespace's non-essential cookies are restricted on this site. Embedded third-party services, such as Google Maps, may process information under their own policies.
You can use your browser's settings to block or delete cookies and manage other privacy preferences. Blocking cookies may affect some website features. For information about the platform's cookies, see the cookies Squarespace uses.
We do not use Google Analytics or advertising pixels on this website, or use this website for targeted advertising or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Browser privacy signals do not prevent the technical processing necessary to deliver the website or independently control third-party websites and services.
How We Use Information
Website-related information may be used to:
Respond to your inquiry and provide information you request.
Operate, maintain, and improve the website.
Diagnose technical issues and protect systems against misuse.
Maintain records of communications and meet applicable legal and professional obligations.
We do not use this website to sell personal information or build advertising audiences.
When Information May Be Disclosed
Information may be processed by providers supporting website hosting, information technology, email, telephone communications, or related administrative services. This may include technical visitor information handled by Squarespace and inquiry information handled by communications providers.
We may disclose information when required by applicable law or valid legal process, to protect against fraud or security threats, or as otherwise permitted by law and applicable professional obligations. We may also disclose information with your authorization or to carry out a request you make. This policy does not waive duties of confidentiality applicable to legal representation.
Google Maps and Other Websites
Our Directions page includes a Google map. Loading or interacting with the map may send technical information, such as your IP address and browser information, to Google. Google's use of that information is governed by its Privacy Policy.
Our website also links to resources operated by other organizations. Their privacy policies govern information they collect independently. Please review their notices before providing personal information. Our Squarespace cookie restrictions do not necessarily control every third-party service.
Optional Google Translate Links
Our language links let you choose to open an automated translation of the page you are viewing through Google Translate in a new tab. This feature does not load an embedded Google translation service or set translation cookies on our website. When you select a translation link, the page address and your selected language are sent to Google, which processes the website content to provide the translation. Our links omit URL query parameters and fragments.
When you use Google Translate, Google may also process technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device information, and service activity, and may use cookies or similar technologies under Google's Privacy Policy. Our Squarespace cookie settings do not control Google's service. Using these links is optional; you may continue using the English website instead. Please do not enter confidential case information, personal documents, or passwords into the translation service.
Automated translations are provided for convenience and may contain errors, particularly in legal terminology. If wording is unclear or differs from the English version, please contact our office for clarification before relying on it.
Retention and Security
Website-related inquiries may be retained in the firm's communications systems. Retention depends on the purpose of the communication, any continuing relationship with the firm, and applicable legal, professional, and recordkeeping requirements. Technical information held by service providers is subject to their applicable practices and obligations. We do not specify a single retention period for every category of information.
No internet transmission or electronic storage system is completely secure. Please telephone us for instructions before sending sensitive documents or detailed case information. If you have concerns about the security of a communication, contact us using the details below.
Sensitive Information and Attorney-Client Relationships
Please limit an initial inquiry to basic contact information and a brief, general description. Do not send passports, Social Security numbers, immigration records, financial information, health information, or other sensitive or confidential material until the firm has explained an appropriate way to provide it.
Visiting this website or contacting us does not by itself establish an attorney-client relationship. Representation is established separately through the firm's engagement process, including any required conflict review and agreement. Do not assume that an unsolicited communication is privileged or confidential, and do not rely on an unanswered message for a legal deadline.
Your Privacy Choices and Colorado Rights
You may contact us to ask about information you have provided, request access, correction, or deletion, or ask us to stop optional communications. Requests are subject to applicable law and relevant exceptions, including legal retention requirements and professional obligations.
Where the Colorado Privacy Act applies to the firm and the information concerned, eligible Colorado consumers have rights to:
Confirm whether their personal data is processed and access that data.
Correct inaccurate personal data.
Request deletion of personal data.
Obtain a portable copy of personal data as provided by law.
Opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, and certain profiling.
To make a request, email pc@lauandchoi.com, call (303) 830-8880, or write to the address below. Describe your request and provide a way to contact you. We may need to verify your identity or an authorized agent's authority before acting. Please do not send identification documents or sensitive case records unless we arrange an appropriate verification method.
We respond within the time required by applicable law. For requests covered by the Colorado Privacy Act, this generally means within 45 days, with an additional 45 days when legally permitted and with notice explaining the extension. If we decline a request, we will explain the decision as required by law.
To appeal a denial where an appeal right applies, contact us through the same methods and state that you are appealing a privacy-request decision. We will provide a response and any further options required by applicable law. You may also contact the Colorado Attorney General with a privacy complaint. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Children and Visitors Outside the United States
This is a general informational website and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately through a website-related inquiry, please contact us so we can address the concern under applicable law. This does not prevent the firm from representing minors or handling information about minors through an appropriate legal engagement.
Our firm is located in the United States. If you contact us from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate. Privacy protections may differ from those in your country. This notice does not limit rights that apply under applicable law.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as website features, information practices, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Please check this page periodically for updates.
